20 Days, 20 German Towns: Langenargen

Langenargen is a small town on the largest lake in Germany, the Bodensee (Lake Constance), which borders Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. We hadn’t heard much about this region until we moved to Germany, but it’s one of those places where it’s just too easy to relax with an ice cream, play mini golf, try out the paddleboards, and let the world go by. People looking for more action can try out the Zeppelin museum or the Dornier aircraft museum, two tributes to German engineering. But the real draw is in just sitting by the lake with a beer and a towel, and ruminating on the fact that one can be simultaneously wearing a bathing suit and getting a sunburn while looking at snow on the mountains.
